This is another fine example of solo instrument modelling with a complete set of extended articulations, geared towards contemporary styles of music. Longer sampled notes nestle alongside more outlandish playing techniques, which offer versatility for anyone yearning for modern sounds.
I managed to get ircam-solo-instruments into the whitelist as advised above, and have managed to get some sounds playing back.but I get the impression that at the moment I will need to split the music into lots of staves, each of which plays back a different technique.I cannot yet see how to switch articulations during the playback.
HiI am doing the one month trial of Dorico 3.Will it work with the IRCAM solo instruments ?If yes, how do I set it up ?I have searched the forum for Ircam and found nothing.ThanksPeter
I now want to try Dorico with the IRCAM solo instruments which are already installed on the PC.I have previously used the IRCAM sounds with Sibelius by setting up a different staff for each instrumental sound.

I purchased ircam solo instruments last week. I am really looking forward to using it, and cannot use it as the unzipped ufs file will not load in the machine.(no valid authorization found). It is registered and recognized by ilok and has been switched to my computer. I have opened the file the way recommended by the ircam team. (locating the folder containing the ufs file in the sound bank). I also have downloaded the demo files from ircam, to see if they open, which they do. therefore it is neither a licencing issue nor a faulty ircam work station. I am disappointed but will keep trying. Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

There are no extended techniques for woodwinds other than flutter tongue and clusters in the ensembles. VSL may be recording some at some point but nothing yet. Ircam solo instruments has some extended instrument effects which might be combined with VSL. The normal articulations of VSL are the best so you would want to keep as much of those as possible.

Kontakte - an enormously successful early electronic work - exists in two versions. The first one, presented on this concert, is the quadraphonic tape composition by itself. The second version adds a pianist and a percussionist playing with the tape. [NB: the latter version will be performed by the SMCQ on November 15 in Redpath Hall, with pianist Brigitte Poulin and percussionist D'Arcy Gray.] The following comments were made by Stockhausen at an introduction to a performance in Stockholm in 2001. "Kontakte means 'contacts'; what is in contact. First of all, in Kontakte there are families of sounds. I started making, in 1958, families of sounds. I made a lot of sounds with a special technique of pulse technique (that is not important now), which had no association. They sounded strange, from very complex noises to very clearly pitched sounds, a whole series, and I worked already at the very beginning in transposing these sounds, or producing them, with many different scales, so no longer with chromatic scales, but with 42 different scales. The largest was the fifths, for the biggest or widest noises, and the smallest was the fifths subdivided in more than 30 steps, because it was possible for the first time to work with these scales, and I was very interested to see what happens if I work with all different kinds of steps... Kontakte is the first work which not only allows, like in Gesang der Jünglinge,...which was the first electronic music for four tracks, when sounds rotate and then contacts between different angles of the room, but in Kontakte it goes much further.
